On a snowy and rainy evening in Paris the fashion show of the new collection Paris-Byzance by Chanel was launched. The theme of the collection takes us back in time, more specific 15 centuries into the past at the heart of the Byzantine Empire. The room is decorated with bronze sequins, oriental lanterns cast a soft sensual glow and in the harem-like atmosphere one is tempted to lie down on the deep plush sofas, decorated with hand-painted cushions.
I really love the oriental inspired jewels that the models are wearing - especially the one's in the hair! The combination of elegance and androgyny defines this new collection, such as Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel would love to see it.
Last week I went to Sweden to visit a friend who's studying in Uppsala for more than six months. It was freezing cold out there - even with warm gloves, an ugly hat and unflattering thermally underwear. But luckly for us there were lots of warm and sociable tea- and coffeehouses where we could warm ourselves up. We also visited Stockholm with his charming Christmas market and matching chancel. Very lovely!
Just so you know: the sun rises at 10am these days and goes back under at 3pm. So it's really dark out there in the winter.
